FAQ

What did Broadcom announce regarding the Partner program?

Broadcom remains committed to creating value within our combined partner ecosystem, which has been made stronger with the addition of VMware partners. Effective February 5, 2024, Broadcom will be transitioning VMware’s partner programs to the invitation-only Broadcom Advantage Partner Program. Based on recent discussions with hundreds of partners globally, this transition will help our partners achieve even greater opportunities for profitability through simplified offerings and more opportunities for service revenues.

Partners can continue to do business as usual until February 4, 2024. The new program begins on February 5, 2024.

When can VMware partners expect an invitation to the new program?

Broadcom began inviting VMware partners into Broadcom Advantage on January 19, 2024, on a rolling basis, beginning with resellers. Invitation timelines will vary by partner type and route to market.

IMPORTANT Notice:

Partners who have not received an invitation by the end of FEBRUARY 2024, but are interested in participating or authorized to resell VMware by Broadcom, should contact the Broadcom Partner Help Desk at partner.helpdesk@broadcom.com

What’s the status of invitations to the program?

Active VMware resellers and value-added solution providers can expect to be invited into Broadcom Advantage at a tier that is equivalent to their VMware partner tier. Active resellers are defined as partners with an active contract within the last 24 months. The invitations were sent to the primary and secondary contacts in our system.

Is there a fee or threshold for joining the program?

There is no universal threshold for partners to join the program, and there is no fee to join.

NOTE: The Broadcom Advantage Partner Program is a continuously active program.

This means that partners who have been invited and accepted do NOT need to renew their participation in the program.

How does Broadcom determine my advanced partner program level?

All progression points were stopped at the time of the Broadcom acquisition on 22 November 2023.

Partners will remain at the program level reached on 21 November 2023 until the end date of the Partner Connect program, 4 February 2024.

Broadcom will use key VMware Partner Connect metrics to enroll and rank partners in the Broadcom Advantage partner program and classify them.

Why is Broadcom transitioning VMware partners to its Broadcom Advantage program?

We are focusing our investment on a single program to help our partners achieve even greater opportunities for profitability through simplified offerings and more opportunity for service revenues. We are also evolving the Broadcom Advantage program with the needs of VMware partners in mind.

Will partners still be able to sell to strategic accounts under the Broadcom Advantage program?

Yes. Partners will still have the opportunity to engage with VMware by Broadcom strategic accounts, as decided on a case-by-case basis at the account level, with a stronger focus on partners providing high-margin, value-added services. Partners can indicate their interest in strategic accounts via a request form in the partner portal.

What about Opportunity Registration?

VMware by Broadcom has announced the elimination of the former opportunity registration process for customer accounts currently in the vendor’s strategic sales segment.

Partners wishing to engage with the teams assigned to the vendor’s strategic sales segment should use the Engagement Request Form. (Can be found on the VMware by Broadcom Essential Partner Information page.)

The Engagement Request Form is similar to VMware’s Partner Value Registration (PVR) Joint Value Plan, which demonstrates a partner’s value to the opportunity. In the past, a PVR had to be approved by VMware Sales and was a prerequisite for large, strategic deals.

What about NFR/IUL?

Not for Resale (NFR) licenses and Internal Use Licenses (IULs) can be requested via the Partner Connect Portal until EOB 6 May 2024.

What are the changes in the product portfolio?

VMware is replacing the perpetual and subscription products offered prior to the close of the Broadcom acquisition with a simplified product portfolio. This is a continuation of the evolution of our simplification journey started in the last couple of years.
