8. Partner Incentives and Customer Promotions
Partner incentives: rewarding execution
Through the Microsoft Commercial Incentives (MCI) framework, Microsoft rewards partners across the customer lifecycle, with a strong focus on usage and outcomes, not one‑off transactions. For security partners, this typically includes:
- Security Usage Incentives for deploying and driving adoption of Defender, Purview, Entra, and Sentinel.
- CSP Security incentives for net‑new customers, seat growth, and workload expansion.
- Activity‑based investments for structured engagements such as assessments and threat protection scenarios.
Customer promotions: accelerating deals
In parallel, Microsoft regularly introduces customer‑facing security promotions to lower adoption barriers, such as:
- Temporary discounts on security workloads.
- Trial‑to‑paid acceleration or commit tier offers.
- Attach offers for security suites on Microsoft 365 Business Premium.
Turning Campaigns into a Scalable Partner Motion
Microsoft Security campaigns are not standalone marketing actions. They are designed to plug directly into:
- Partner campaigns
- Assessments
- Proofs of concept
For partners, success lies in chaining these tools together into a repeatable motion, one that consistently turns awareness into protection.
