Free ink and toner recycling with Brother
At Brother, we take our environmental responsibilities seriously, and encourage our customers to do the same by sending us used Brother supplies for recycling at no cost. With your help, we can continue to minimise our impact on the environment.
Recycling with Brother is quick, easy and free
Simply select your service requirements from one of our recycling options, according to the amount of empty cartridges you have. For ink cartridges, you can either order a free-postenvelope (up to 4 cartridges), or a free-post box (up to 20 cartridges). Post the envelop through a post box or drop the box off at your local post office to return it to Brother.
For toner cartridges, we offer various recycling services, from downloading a free postal label (up to 2 toner boxes), to dropping off a recycling box at your local post office (between 4 and 12 toners) and requesting a free courier collection of large quantities (more than 12 toners).
Please note these services are for Brother genuine cartridges only.
What happens to my cartridges when I return them?
Your cartridge will make its way back to one of our ‘zero waste to landfill’ accredited European recycling facilities where it will be recycled or remanufactured (the reuse of all parts to make new products). Anything that cannot be remanufactured is recycled, contributing to a sustainable circular economy. Today, Brother still remain the only print manufacturer to have its own recycling facilities in North Wales and Slovakia.
Durable components from your returned cartridge are recovered and utilized within a new cartridge to conserve resources, reduce the environmental impact and save CO2.Anything we can’t remanufacture, due to damage or wear and tear is 100% recycled.

We are Cool Earth’s longest serving commercial partner having started our relationship back in 2009. As part of this we support their Amazon rainforest project. Visit our profile at coolearth.org to see how, in return for recycling your ink and toner cartridges, we’re sponsoring the protection of the Peruvian rainforest. Cool Earth provides around-the-clock protection for the rainforest of the Ashaninka community to keep illegal loggers at bay, allowing them to responsibly harvest produce such as nuts, coffee, and cocoa.
