Microsoft CSP New Commerce

Platform transition

Microsoft has announced that in 2024 it will be taking important steps towards retiring the CSP legacy commerce platform.  As of November 2023, public sector (academic, GCC, NFP/charity) offers will be available in new commerce. From January 2024, Microsoft will begin automatic migration of all renewing commercial customers to new commerce.

CSP Commercial Legacy Subscription Automatic Migrations

The real game-changer comes into play from January 2024. Microsoft will embark on the automatic migration of all renewing commercial subscriptions, streamlining the process and ensuring a seamless transition for valued customers. This move reflects Microsoft’s commitment to making your journey as smooth as possible.

For those legacy subscriptions that Microsoft does migrate to the new commerce platform, a few key points deserve your attention:

  • These subscriptions will be set to an annual term, mirroring the billing plan and seat counts from the legacy platform. The migration will coincide with the subscription’s renewal date, commencing with subscriptions renewing in January 2024 and extending throughout the entire year.
  • After the migration is complete; you’ll have seven days to make any necessary adjustments. This means you can tweak subscription terms, quantities, or even cancel if circumstances demand. Microsoft understands the importance of flexibility, and this grace period ensures that partners have the agency to cater to their clients’ unique needs.
Partners, here’s your chance to shine: be Proactive

TD SYNNEX recommends proactive management of your customers’ migrations. If your customers prefer monthly subscription terms in the new commerce platform rather than annual ones, it’s a good idea to initiate the migration before the legacy subscriptions reach their end in 2024. By taking the lead in migrating your customers’ subscriptions, you gain the advantage of shaping terms and conditions to best suit your clients’ needs. This proactive approach also allows for effective communication with customers and other partners in your ecosystem, ensuring a cohesive transition process.

In conclusion, Microsoft’s decision to transition away from the CSP legacy commerce platform is a positive step towards a brighter, more efficient future. With ample support, flexibility, and a commitment to partner success, this migration promises a seamless experience for all involved. As the transition unfolds, remember that Microsoft and TD SYNNEX are here to guide you every step of the way. Together, we’re shaping a future that holds boundless possibilities.

Public Sector Offers Leading the Way

Starting in November 2023, Microsoft will roll out public sector offers encompassing academic, GCC, and NFP/charity sectors in the new commerce platform. This heralds a new era of accessibility and efficiency for customers in these vital sectors. We expect to receive the preview of the public sector offers that will be made available in New Commerce by October.

Public Sector Legacy Subscriptions Get a Grace Period

For public sector legacy subscriptions, there’s a special consideration. Unlike their commercial counterparts, these subscriptions won’t be automatically migrated at renewal. Instead, customers will have more time at their disposal to make the transition. This patient approach ensures that public sector entities can adapt at their own pace while still benefiting from the enhanced features of the new commerce platform.
