AI Unlocked:
From AI Hype to Real Business Impact
with HPE

In this session, organized on Friday the 7th of November, we explored how businesses can move beyond the buzz and turn AI into measurable results.

AI has evolved rapidly, from its early roots in the 1950s to the explosion of generative AI in 2022, which made advanced capabilities accessible without massive teams or budgets. Today, we’re seeing a shift toward Agentic AI (specialized models with tools for specific tasks) and even Physical AI, where decisions impact the real world, think defect-detecting robots or autonomous vehicles. But here’s the reality: despite $30–$40 billion invested in generative AI, 95% of companies see zero ROI (MIT State of AI Report 2025).

Why?

Most rely on general-purpose tools like chatbots or Copilot licenses, which are easy to deploy but rarely deliver business value. The real impact comes from embedded, task-specific AI-solutions integrated into business processes and powered by proprietary data.

The challenge?

Getting these projects to production. While 40% of general-purpose AI initiatives go live, only 5% of embedded AI projects make it, because integration is complex. Data silos, infrastructure hurdles, cost overruns, and governance issues often derail progress. Success requires aligning AI with core processes, leveraging unique data, and planning for scalability and transparency.

The takeaway: don’t chase hype, focus on embedding AI where it matters most. That’s how you join the 5% who see massive returns.
